The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph illustrates how much fish, lamb, beef and chicken were consumed by each person per week in a European country from 1979 to 2004.
It is obviously that there was a downward trend in the consumptions of all types, with the exception of chicken. Between 1979 and 1989, the beef was the highest meat consumption. From after 1989 to 2004, however, the consumption of chicken increased significantly and became the highest one at the end.
According to the graph, 220 grams of beef was weekly consumed in 1979. Each person, at the same time, ate approximately 150 grams of lamb and chicken, whereas the consumption of fish was just above 50 grams.
Over the 25-year period the consumption of chicken increased gradually and finally reached a peak of 250 grams. Beef and lamb consumptions, in contrast, fell sharply to 100 grams and 60 grams in 2004. The amount of fish consumption remained the lowest figure during the period and finished at below 50 grams.
