The pie charts illustrate the proportion of water-consuming in six areas of the world for three purposes. Overall, water was used the most for cultivation in nearly all continents.
More specifically, African spent a great portion of water for agricultural need, accounted for 84 percent, followed by the consumption required by industry and household’s use at 9 percent, and 7 percent, respectively. The similar division could be observed for Asia, but in South East Asia, people consumed 12 percent of total amount for industry, slightly larger than that in South America, which had the highest proportion of water consumption for domestic use at 19 percent.
Finally, the proportion of water used by North America and Europe share the same division, which nearly a half of total amount was consumed for industrial needs and over one-third for agriculture while people spent a mere amount for personal use at home, ranging from 13 – 15 percent.
