Governments should offer a free university education to any student who has been admitted to a university but who cannot afford the tuition.
This topic raises the controversial issue whether government should make university education free for admitted student who cannot afford to sponsor themselves through school. Some would argue that, the government should use the money to develop other areas of the economy such as health care, power, and some other infrastructures. Nevertheless, others would argue that, the best way to secure the economy of a society or country is by educating the young ones because they are the future of the country. After careful consideration, it is clear that, to sustain a country economically is by educating the youth since clearly they are the future of any society. Therefore, it's government should make sure the youths are educated by making scholarships available for them.
Government should see this act as an investment to growing the economy. This is because for an economy to grow it must have sound mind who are willing and capable of working in the labour market. For example, a student who is admitted to the university but cannot afford to pay for his/her school, will not be able to secure a job because, most organisations require a university education for successfully securing a position. But if the government have a free university education policy, such a person will benefit from it, complete his/her education and in turn secure the job. This will not be possible without the free education from the government. Therefore, the government will in the long run improve the economy of its society when it prioritize the education of its citizens by making university education free for deserving candidates.
Also, by making university free for deserving students, government will indirectly aid technological advancement. This is because, most of the research that aid technological advancement are done in the university. For example, the several universities in the world are currently carrying out numerous research in different area such as: renewable energy, waste management, astrology, medicine and so on. All these research have one thing in common to make the world a better place for man to live in. These research will always need man power and brains to be carried out, since most of them are don in the universities, research students are the ones that will be employed to work with professors for successful discoveries to be made. All these will not be possible if these students do not have the opportunity to be in the university in the first place.
However, some people will argue that, when government pay fees for student through the university is considered a waste of resources because there are more pressing and immediate problems that can be solved with these funds such as: security, power generation and so on. But as we know the best way to sustain any system is to always plan for future problems.
In conclusion, government should ensure to put in place schemes that make sure admitted students are funded throughout their university education because it's indirectly investing in the country's economy and will also aid technological advancement.
