The chart compares the proportion of males and females in Australia doing physical activity regularly with regards to their age groups in the year 2010.
Overall, there were more women than men who engaged in regular physical activity, and while the graph of male engagement in the activity dropped initially and rose later, the number of women doing exercise increased with age and only decreased after the age of 65.
52.8 percent, which was the highest ratio, of the males aged 15-24 did exercise regularly. This percentage declined sharply with age and was 42.2% for those aged 25-34 and 39.5%, the lowest proportion, for those aged 35-44. However, more men were engaging in physical activity as they got aged: 43.1, 45.1, and 46.7 percent for the age groups 45-54, 55-64, and 65 and over respectively.
The ratio of women, on the other hand, rose moderately: it started at 47.7% for the age group 15-24 and peaked at 53.3% for the age group 45-54. After this point, it decreased slightly for the age group 55-64 and fell steeply to 47.1 percent, which was its lowest point, for women aged 65 and above.
