The graph below gives information about changes in the birth and death rates in New Zealand between 1901 and 2101.
The line graph shows the data about the number of babies born and people dying in NZ over a period of 100 years.
Overall, a considerable rise can be seen in the number of death and eventually is predicted to overtake that for the figure for birth. Both numbers rose and finally is predicted to remain at a certain level.
In 1901, the number of babies born was just over 20,000, and this was nearly two times higher than the rate of people dying. The number of death was about 90,00, about 11,000 lower than the rate of birth.
The biggest change can be seen in the number of birth which rose dramatically to a peak of nearly 650,000 in 1965 and is expected to drop steadily to around 480,000 in the future. By contrast, the figure for people dying increases slightly to nearly 480,000 and is predicted to eventually overtake the number of birth in 2041. In 2101, the figure for babies born is supposed to be 550000, almost 100,000 more than the number of death.
