The bar chart presents information on the hours of spare time in a week enjoyed by men and women, who are employed full-time and part-time, unemployed, retired and housewives from 1998 -1999.
Overall, unemployed and retired men and women enjoy the most number of hours as spare time over the period, while the full-time women in workforce are recipient of the lowest number of hours to use as their free time. Furthermore, men appear to have more time off over the period surveyed.
Men in full-time work had more leisure time than their female counterparts, with approximately 49 hours and 38 hours respectively. In addition, the women in part-time employment had just over 40 hours of playtime and the housewives a bit higher with roughly 43 hours.
Strikingly, unemployed and retired men and women enjoyed the same proportion of hours spent as free time. However, the men had the most spare time compared to the women at over 80 hours and approximately 72 hours respectively.
