The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.
The bar chart compares five Australian cities in terms of their residents’ tea and coffee buying and drinking habits in last 4 weeks.
Overall, it is clearly seen that going to cafe to enjoy coffee and tea was the most popular choice in all cities except Adelaide. Additionally, the percentage of people purchasing instant coffee was higher than the figures for buying fresh coffee.
Melbourn had the highest proportion of people drinking coffee or tea at a café, at around 64%, nearly 5% higher than the figure for Sydney. While the percentage of citizens purchasing instant coffee was also higher in Melbourne than in Sydney, at roughly 48% and 45% respectively, the figure for buying fresh coffee in Melbourne was roughly 2% lower than that in Sydney, remaining under 44% each.
In Adelaide, the percentage of people going to a café for a coffee or tea was lowest, accounting for under 50%, compared to approximately 55% and 63% in Brisbane and Hobart respectively. Similarly, around half of people bought instant coffee in Adelaide, which was minimally surpassed by the figures for Brisbane and Hobart, at around 53% each. Buying fresh coffee made up over a third of city population in both Brisbane and Adelaide, the lowest figure recorded for this category, as opposed to around 38% in Hobart.
