the graph shows information about the languages that 13-year-old students in one English school chose to study
The line graph represents the numbers of schoolchildren aged 13
years old choosing who chose to take up two different languages.
Overall, the quantity of 13-year-old pupils learning French is
always higher than the figure for Mandarin during the shown period. In
addition, the figure for Mandarin has increased increases, whereas the
opposite trend is true for that of French.
In 2000, approximately 150 students who were 13
decided to learn French. In contrast, the number of juvenile
schoolchildren studying French experienced a significant decrease to
about 95 pupils from 2000 to 2005. On the contrary, after one year,
this figure rose slowly to 100 students. Meanwhile, that fell has fallen
gradually to hit a trough of under 95 learners during the period from
2006 to the present time.
However, the trend for teenage students in Mandarin Mandarin classes is totally different. Starting with only ten learners in 2000,
there was a plunge in the number of adolescents at the age of 13 who
wanted to master Mandarin to about 75 students in 2005. By contrast,
between 2005 and the current time, this quantity has fluctuated
slightly to top out at nearly 80 pupils.
