The line graph illustrates the proportion of tourists visiting an island in the Caribbeans from 2010 to 2017.
Overall, the total number of tourists increased dramatically during the period. Also, the number of people staying on cruise ships increased, overtaking the number of visitors staying on the island.
Firstly, in 2010, visitors residing on the island was around 0.75 million, whereas, the proportion of people staying on cruise ships were below 0.5 million. From 2010 onwards number of visitors staying on the island increased dramatically, and in 2013, it stood at 1.5 million, between 2013 to 2017 the number of people staying on the island were relatively similar(1.5 million). However, the figures for cruise ships increased rapidly, surpassing the former midway through 2015 and reaching the peak in 2017 of 2 million.
The total number of visitors also increased during the period. The figures started at 1 million visitors in 2010, rose rapidly over the years and by 2015 it was around 2.7 million, the numbers remained similar until 2016, however; by 2017 it rose dramatically to 3.5 million visitors, respectively.
