Overall, in both years, the petroleum products contributed the most to the export values, whereas the exports gained the least contribution from textiles. Interestingly, apart from gems and jewellery, all other categories experienced upward trends.
While the figures for petroleum products slightly increased from 2015 to 2016 from $60 billion to approximately $62 billion, there was a marked growth in terms of engineered goods and textiles, with the latter having the smallest earnings. Exports from agricultural products almost levelled off during the given period; exports from gems and jewellery, however, were around $42 billion and $40 billion in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
Regarding the percentage change in values, agricultural products had the smallest fraction comprising of a 0.81% increase, which was followed by petroleum products with a rise of only 3%. The values of engineered goods and textiles saw a growth of 8.5% and 15.24 respectively. On the other hand, there was a 5.18% decrease in the values of gems and jewellery.
