The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in newport City centre from 2003 to 2012.
The rendered polyline graph depicts comparison among three crimes namely burglary, car theft, robbery over the period of 2003 to 2012 in Newport city.
In 2003, burglary was reported the highest crime rate at just below 3500 incidents, later it reached its peak in 2004 before declining to just above 3000 accidents in 2005. From 2005 to 2008 it fell dramatically by around 2,000 cases which was its bottom point. After this it went through a flactuating trend for a lustrum from approximately 1200 to 1400 crime rates.
Proving further to the Car theft, initially, it had experienced around 2800 cases which showed similar figures for two years. Although it experienced a slight decline at just above 2000 incidents by 2006, it rose again and followed the zigzag pattern for the following years up to 2800 cases. While crime rates in terms of robbery had not been noticed much variations and reported the 500 to 900 cases in the given span of time.
To sum up, in the beginning crime related to burglary accounted for the highest number, whereas at last robbery replaced the former one. Burglary went through a significant changes throughout the period, while crimes like a car theft and robbery had not observed much variations in a trend.
