The chart compares the proportion of social media used for business purposes in small, medium and large companies from 2012 to 2016.
It is clear that the percentage of business that have social media presence experienced a remarkable growth in small and medium companies, while there was a slight rise in the figures for large companies throughout the period.
To begin with, accounting for less than 80% of overall large business in 2012, big companies had the largest proportion compared to others. It was followed by that of medium and small business. While the former made up more than 30%, the latter was only 5% less during the time. In the next 2 years, the figures for medium and small companies fairly decreased to nearly 50% and less than 35%, respectively. By contrast, the period brought a slight fall in the rate of large companies.
From 2014 to 2016, the proportion of big companies, after a 30% decrease in the first year, dramatically elevate to nearly 80% by 2016. Similarly, falling to 30% in 2015, the level of small and medium business witnessed a significant growth to less than 50% and 52%, respectively in the last period.
