The chart below shows the results of a British survey taken in 2005 related to the housing preferences of people in the UK.
The bar chart displays the results of a British survey in 2005 regarding the accommodation preferences of UK citizens.
In general, flats were the most popular choice among London and Oxford dwellers while people living in Cambridge favored detached houses.
As is observed, flats were predominant in London with nearly 60% of the people opting for this type of accommodation. Semi-detached houses and terraced houses stayed behind with the figures for these categories around 15-18% while less than 10% of the people chose detached houses. Although flats took the lead in Oxford, their percentage was at a lower level than London with nearly 30%, followed closely by semi-detached and detached houses. Terraced houses fell behind compared to the other types with almost 20% of the citizens.
In contrast to the other areas, detached houses accommodated 35% of the Cambridge population. Semi-detached houses were the second most popular option at around 27%, ahead of flats and terraced houses with 20% and 17% respectively.
