Overall, the amount of Brazil’s coffee exportation was the highest throughout most of the period shown. Also, the figure for coffee exported from these three countries followed an upward trend over the period.
In 2002, Costa Rica exported 15 million kilograms of coffee, comparing with around 12.5 million kilograms of Brazil and only 5 million kilograms of Columbia. Over the next 4 years, the amount of coffee exported from Brazil and Columbia followed a similar pattern, increasing to 15 million and about 12 million kilograms respectively. In the meantime, this period witnessed a gradual decrease of approximately 11 million kilograms in the figure for Costa Rica’s coffee exportation.
In the next 6 years, there was a fluctuation between 15 million and 25 million kilograms in the amount of coffee exported from Brazil before reaching a peak of almost 25 million kilograms in 2012. Meanwhile, a growth of roughly 14 million kilograms was observed in the figure for Costa Rica’s coffee exportation in this period. In contrast, the amount of coffee exported from Columbia showed a decrease to about 2 million kilograms in 2008 and then rose back to 15 million in 2012.
