The line graph compares three regions, namely Australia, Canada, and European Community in terms of wheat export index between 1985 and 1990.
Overall, while the number of wheat exported in Canada and Europe countries had a tendency to increase at the end of the examined period, the opposite was true for Australia. Meanwhile, the data of Canadian wheat exports dramatically fluctuated rather than the other areas.
It can be seen that Canada was the number-one country regarding exporting wheat over the period of the first 4 years with approximately 20 million tones in 1985. This figure slightly decreased after 1 year before reaching a peak at 25 million tones in 1988. Similarly, the year 1988 also witnessed the marginally rose in the total wheat exports in European Community at exactly 15 million tones after experiencing a declining period within the first 3 years. In contrast, the trend was reversed in the figure for Australia, with 15 million tones at the beginning of the period, then grew by only 1 million tones, followed by substantial decline at 17 units in 1988.
Furthermore, from 1988 to 1990, there was a significant difference in the export index of wheat in 3 countries. While Australia continued to export wheat less and ending with around 10 million tones in 1990, the wheat imports from Canada tended to grow in 1989 and 1990, with 19 and 21 million tones, respectively. Besides that, the wheat production used for exporting in European Community went through a huge fluctuation, starting with sharp decrease and falling into the bottom at 14 million tones, and then increased by 5 million tones at 19 million tones at the end of the period.
