The charts below show the percentage of people working in different sectors in town A and town B in 1960, 2010.
The pie charts compare the proportions of the population employed in three different sectors in town A and town B in 1960 and 2010.
It is noticeable that working in the manufacturing industry was less common in both towns between 1960 and 2010, while the opposite trend was true for jobs in the service industry. However, manufacturing jobs were still the most popular choice in town B in both years.
In 1960, most of the people in two towns had manufacturing jobs, with 41% of town A’s citizens and 70% of town B‘s residents. People who worked in the sales industry accounted for 20% of the town B population, and this figure for town A was 10% higher. Similarly, nearly one-third of the inhabitants of town A had service-related jobs, but that only accounted for 10% of people in town B.
In 2010, the figures for sales and manufacturing reduced by half to 16% and 20% respectively in town A while that for services increased by 35% of the population. In town B, the percentage of people whose jobs in the service sector inclined by 15%, whereas only an increase of 2% of the population was seen in the sales sector. Finally, after decreasing over 50 years, over half of the inhabitants of town B had manufacturing jobs.
