The pie chart illustrates the results of conducted surveys in one African nation asking young people the major reasons for usage their phones over the period shown.
As can be seen from the chart, it is clear that whereas the proportions of the teenagers using their phone for phone calls and digital camera witneesed an upward trend, the opposite was true for social networds and email. The teenagers using their phone for social networks account for the greatest percentage.
In 2016, the percentage of children utilizing their phone for social networks reached a peak of exactly 50%, compared to 25% for email. the figure for young people using their phone for digital camera was 5% higher than making phone calls, registering 15% and 10% , respectively.
By 2019, there was a slight decreased in the percentage of teenagers using their phone for social networks, with by 2% from 2016 to 2017, after which this figure rose marginally to 56% in 2019. Similarly, the percentage of teenagers using their phone for digital camera climbed slowly to 20% in 2019.In contrast, the proportion of young people usage their phone for email declined slightly to 19% in 2019. There was a gradual increase in the figure for using phones , at 13% in 2017, after which this figure reduced dramatically to 5% in 2017.
