Overall, there is an upward trend in the number of temporary migrant workers in four countries from 2003 to 2006 and the United States had the highest population of this group in both 2 years. Moreover, the highest number of foreign workers per 1000 people was recorded in New Zealand.
It is substantial that 577000 immigrants worked in the United States in 2003 and then this number went up to 678000 in the next 3 years. In addition, the rate of immigrants (per 1000 people) in the United Kingdom was roughly twice as much as that of the United States.
Regarding Australia, the number of immigrants was 152000 people in 2003, after escalating to 219000 in 2006 and the ratio was 10.7 in the same year. Interestingly, while New Zealand had the lowest population of foreign workers in 2003 and 2006, the ratio of immigrants in that country was the highest, 21.1 per 1000 people, fivefold higher than the figure for the United Kingdom.
