The bar charts describe how many people who get married and divorce, and how many adult people who have one of marital status consist of never married, married, widowed and divorced. The research was done in the United States from 1970-2000.

From the first graph, it can be seen that the number of marriages between 1970 and 1980 was same, at 2.5 millions people. Furthermore, in 1990 it decreased slowly at over 2 millions, and it also went down steadily at 2 millions. How ever, the number of divorces was lower than that marriages from 1970 to 2000. It was around 1-1,5 millions.

The second graph illustrates the number of people having status. It can be seen that the number of married status is the highest than the others. But, it reduced by 12 between 1970 and 2000. It was in 1970 at 70 percent and in in 2000 at 58 percent. For the other marital status, the people who never married in 1970 was lower than that in 2000, at over 10 percent and at 20 percent. Then, the number of divorced in 1970 also lower than that in 2000, just under 10.

Overall, from the graphs, American people prefer getting married to getting divorced or never married. Married is more popular in American lifestyle than the others.
