The table illustrates average distance traveler per person by different modes of travel from 1985 to 2000 in England. Almost all of modes of travel were used by travelers, in addition the distance of residents choosing climbed from 4,740 miles in 1985 to 6,475 miles in 2000.
To compare each mode of travel with another, it is immediately apparent that, the distance of people traveling by walking, bicycle, local bus as modes of travel decreased at 15-years period. Instead, the distance of people choosing to travel by car, long distance bus, train, taxi, and other increased significantly during the same time. The most noticeable rise observed by taxi, so that the use of taxi grew up to 42 miles in 2000, exactly 3 times from what was in 1985 (13 miles). While in contrast. The most obvious drop happened in travel by local bus. The number of miles that passengers utilized from local bus fell from 429 miles to 274 miles between 1989 and 2000.
By and large, the use of modes of travel in England rose to approximately 36% from 1989 to 2000. Besides car was the most popular mode of travel among passengers.
