The bar chart gives information about the number of car journeys into the city centre made by residents and non residents Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant

The bar graph illustrates changes in average number of car journeys made by residents and non-residents to the city center over a 10 year period from 1996 to 2005.

From the graph it is clearly evident that, majority of the residents travelled to city center up-to 1999. However, non-residents travelling to the city center are always very less when compared to residents.

The journey's by residents after the introduction of parking meters have dramatically plummeted to 5000 in the year 2000. The trend continued fluctuating for more two years. During 2002 and 2003 the Westgate street and Park Lane were closed due to traffic. As a result, the residents travelling to city center almost became half (4000) when compared to the initial years and the trend increased slightly to 4500 in 2005.

On the other hand, the trend of non-residents journey's increased steadily from 5000 to 8200 by the year 1999. Though, the parking meters introduced in the city it doesn't effected the non-residents traffic. Their trend was kept steady up-to the year 2002. In contrary, the closing of Westgate street and park lane has effected the outsiders very badly. As a result, their trend plunged down to 3000 and maintained steadily.
