The chart below shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in UK from 2001 to 2008
The chart illustrates the percentage of men, women and children who had five healthy parts of fruit and vegetables each day for period of eight years (2001-2008) in England.
Overall, women have consumed highest parts of fruits and vegetables and children have least amount of healthy food. By far, percentage of women who have consumed highest parts of fruits and vegetables was observed in year 2006 whereas the least was observed in children during the three consecutive years of 2001, 2001 and 2003.
The percent consumption of healthy food by women was around 20% in year 2001 which considerably increased over the years. The decline from the highest peak was observed in both years 2007 and 2008 by around 32% and 29% respectively. In men category, the eating of fruits and vegetables stayed constant around 17% during three years (2001, 2002 and 2003). The significant rise was observed in men category from the year 2004 (around 20%) which continued to rise around 27% (2006). However, the percentage remained constant very next year and dropped to around 24% in 2008. The percentage of children having healthy portions followed similar pattern to men category. The percentage was remained consistent from 2001 to 2003 (around 12%), increased considerably to around 25% during 2007 and then dipped to 23% in year 2008.
