The charts below show the main reasons for study among students of different age groups and the amount of support they received from employers.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The first chart gives information about the reason for study among students in six age categories. The second one compares the amount of support gained from employers in the same groups.

It is clear that younger students choose to study mainly for their careers in the future, while the reason of older students is their interest. Also, younger employees can get more support.

Students under 39 consider careers to be the main reason. For those under 26 years old, 80% of them think they need to study for good jobs, whereas the figure for the reason about interest is only 10% in the same group. In the group of 40 to 49, approximately half of students think interest is the primary reason. By contrast, 70% of students over 49 study for interest.

In terms of the support in each age group, more than 30% of them can get time off and fees. Employees under 26 get the most support, and nearly 70% can be supported by employers, followed by the age group 26 to 29 (50%). The equivalent figures for age groups over 49, 40 to 49 and 30 to 39 are 45%, 38% and 35% respectively.
