The consumption of three spread between 1981 and 2007.
The line graph shows the consumption of three spreads namely Margarine, Low fat & reduced spreads and butter during the period from 1981 to 2007.
Overall, the consumption of margarine and butter experienced a decline between 1981 and 2007. At the beginning of the given time period, margarine was popular type of spread, which was replaced by butter at 1991, and finally in the year of 2001 low & reduced spreads surpassed both margarine and butter.
With regard to amount of margarine intake, it began at 141 gram at 1981, and it soared till 1986 to reach just below 160 gram in the year of 1986. After that, the consumption of margarine began to fall and finally it plunged to about 50 grams in 2007. On the other hand, the butter consumption was about 90 grams in 1981, and it gradually decreased to reach at 80 grams in 1986. Since then, it witnessed steady increase and reached at 100 grams in 1991. The consumption of butter was leveled at 100 grams until 1996, before it started to decline, and in 2007 it reached at about 72 grams.
On the other hand, the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads began in the year of 1996, and at that year the figure was near 10 grams. Since then, it started to soar to reach at just over 80 grams in 2001. After that, it started to fall gradually, and in 2007 it was about 70 grams.
