The graph below gives information about U.S. government spending on research between 1980 and 2008.
The given line graph compared the money which was spent on research in fields of the US government from 1980 to 2008.
Overall it is remarkable that the government spent the largest amount of money on Health while the volume on General science was the lowest over the period.
Looking at the graph in more details, the highest and lowest positions belonged to the Health and the general science in 1980. Meanwhile, the other fields were invested lower. The figures for Space, Energy and other were 7.5,6 and 5 billion dollars correspondingly. After that time, in 1996, it is noticeable that the funding the US spent in that formers was almost the same, at around 7 billion dollars. However, the money for both of the Health and the General Science rose respectively by approximately twofold and 1 billion dollars.
On the other hand, the period time from 1996 to 2004 witnessed significant growth in the money spent on the Health, rising from nearly 15 billion to around 22 billion. After that, in 2008, it dropped suddenly by 5 billion to 17 billion. In the year 2004, the fundings for Energy and General Science were the same at 5 billion. By contrast, the Space and the Energy money rose respectively to 9 and 7 billion. As regards the funding for General Science and the other, they had the same investment, at 5 billion.
