The bar chart illustrates the percentage of jobless women in 4 nations of the UK in two consecutive years: 2013 and 2014.
Overall, it is obvious that while England, Wales and Northern Ireland witnessed a successful decrease in unemployment, the figure for Scotland showed an upward trend. It is also noticeable that the rates of unemployed English and Scottish women were higher than those in Wales and Northern Ireland.
In the year 2000, the proportion of jobless females in England stood at 6.8%, which was the highest among the 04 countries. This rate was followed by Scotland at 6.1%. Meanwhile, the proportions in Wales and Northern Ireland were comparatively similar, at 5.4% and 5.6% respectively.
A year later, the rate of women’s unemployment in Scotland experienced quite a big increase to 6.7%, making it the highest figure in this year. Such a tendency was not seen in the percentages in the other 03 countries: England at 6.5%, Wales 5.0%, and Northern Ireland 4.6%. Among the 03, Northern Ireland was the state with the lowest unemployment rate, with a drop of well 1%.
