Essay topics:

the graph shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kindom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

Depicted by the chart is the information about the average amount of carbon dioxide emissions emitted individually by people in four different countries over 4 decades, since 1967. The unit is measured in metric tonnes.

Overall, it can be seen that there were two distinct trends in the emissions of carbon dioxide in all countries.

1967, the figures for United Kingdom and Sweden were the two highest, with around 11 and 9 severally, where the former was the highest level recorded. This is followed by Italy, in which the inhabitant was responsible for producing just over 4 carbon dioxide emissions. Meanwhile, the smallest amount of CO2 emissions (just under 2) was produced by people in Portugal.

After 1967, United Kingdom and Sweden showed a similar pattern, while the former decreased gradually to around 7 by 2007, despite reaching a peak at just over 10 in 1997, the latter’s number then experienced almost a half drop, tailing off to just beneath 6 (2007). In contrast, the figures for Italy and Portugal increased consistently, where that for the former inclined to just under 8 in 2007, while Portugal witnessed five-fold growth at the end of period.
