The charts compare the proportion of male and female employees working in different kinds of jobs in the UK in the year 1992.
Overall, the proportion of women in Britain working in non-manual jobs was higher than that of men, while men tended to work in manual fields.
The percentage of males choosing Craft or similar jobs accounted for almost a quarter, compared to only 3% female counterparts. General labourers were the least popular among Britain men and women, at 2% and 1% respectively. In terms of Other manual jobs, the figures for both sexes were quite similar, at over a quarter.
Of other non-manual fields, 31% of women in Britain preferred Clerical and related jobs, which was much higher than that of men with only 6%. In contrast, the proportions of males and females working in Mana and Pro fields were quite high, at 36% and 29% respectively. The lowest figure can be seen in the percentage of men working in Other non-manual jobs, at 6%, as opposed to 9% women.
