Essay topics:

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

The first map illustrates how the Grange Park looked like in 1920 while the second one shows all the changes that have happened our the last hundred years.

Overall, the public park has become very commercial and busy while in 1920 it used to be a quiet place with open spaces and gardens. Over the time, there has been development of many buildings in the park like theatres and cafes at the expense of old structures.

If we begin with what remained the same, there isn’t much to discuss. The two entrances to the park, as well as a rose gardein in the upper left corner have managed to survive. Everything else has been either replaced or removed.

A stage for musicians that used to be to the left of the fountain has been paved and an amphitheatre has been erected in its place. The central fountain itself was taken out and a rose garden was planted there with seating arrangements all around it. The rose garden and the pond in the upper right corner don’t exist anymore, rather a café and children playing area has been build at the location. Lastly, the glasshouse that used to be at the right side of the Eldon street enterance is no more there, instead a water feature greets visitors now who wish to go there.
