The graph illustrates the rate of the workforce in three distinct sectors in South Korea from 1981 to 2011.
Overall, the proportion of employees in Services always increased, while there was a downward pattern in that of Agriculture and Industry over the course of 30 years. Particularly, in oppose with the continuous decline in the rate of workers in the agriculture, there was a slight increase in the rate of industrial jobs.
Looking at the graph more closely, one can see that in services, the percentage of employment steadily grew by roughly 5 percent over the first 10 years, before steeply rose to peak at roughly 70 percent in 2011. In industry, a similar trend was seen in the first 10-years period when the rate of employment soared from closely 30 percent in 1981 to approximate 35 percent in 1991, before plummeted to nearly the point as it was in the 1981 figure. As for agriculture, it was also evidence that their proportion of employment constantly plunged during the period illustrated in the graph. It stood at nearly 33 percent in 1981, then shrank by approximately 7 times to hit a low at closely 5 percent in 2011.
