Some people think students should study the science of food and how to prepare it. Others think that school time should be used in learning important subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion?
Student life is the phase of learning abundance of fundamentals which may be helpful at later stage of life. In recent times, there is an ongoing dispute among people whether students should be taught cooking as a part of syllabus or not. This essay will elucidate why I believe that it should not be introduced as a subject in the schools and expand both sides of the arguments.
Firstly, students already have number of mandatory subjects to learn in schools such as physics, mathamatics, biology, languages, etc. These are paramount for higher studies as well as in personal life. For example, subject of languages help students to learn grammar, understanding usage and improve their communication skill, which is absolutely significant in all aspects of life. Therefore, If board would decide to include it in curriculum, student may not get much time to concentrate on important subjects.
Moreover, cooking is an art, which can be learnt at any age and not everyone can master it, even if it would be inculcate to them from early age. Also, it is not the rudimentary skill that everybody is obliged to own.
On the other hand, those who argue that science of food and it's recipes deserve place in school syllabus may argue that it is an imperative lifeskill and can be prooven beneficial in long term. For instance, student who go for studies in foreign countries would be able to prepare food according to his taste and choice and would be easly thrive as compared to others who does not know it.
To conclude, Cooking can be profitable to the person who knows it; however, it is not one of the compulsory skill to master in school days, there are other more vital subjects to focus on. Hence, it should be classified as a compulsory subject for students.
