The table illustrates the proportion of consumer expenditure on three different categories in five selected countries in 2002.
It is clear that Turkey stood out as spending on food and leisure far more than the others. Overall, in five different countries, residents utilized a huge amount of money on food, drinks and Tobacco, while those of leisure and education was trivial.
As is observed, the Turkish largest amount of money was spent on food at roughly 32%, followed by those of Ireland (28,91%). In comparison, the data of Italy, Spain and Sweden were fairly equal, at 16,36%, 18.8% and 15.77% respectively.
Even though Turkish total national expenditure accounted for almost half of the money, those of leisure and education was sharply lower at merely 4.35%. Moreover, Swedish total spending was the lowest at approximately 23%, which nearly similar to the data of Spain and Italy
