Essay topics:

The table below shows the results of a survey of the average number of cars per hour using three suburban roads during working hours in a ten-year pollution monitoring programme. Traffic calming was introduced in Harper Lane at the beginning of 1999.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the data.

A glance at the table provided reveals the consequences of the study of the average number of cars per hour on three provincial roads starting from 1993 and until 2002. It can be clearly seen that there were wild fluctuations in the number of cars over a period of 10 years, but the trend was upward.
It is observed that in the first 6 years of the period, the number of cars increased on Harper Lane and Long Lane roads. Meanwhile, Great York Way was uniform with a slight fluctuation. Then, there was a dramatic drop in Harper Lane numbers from 915 to 204 during the next 2 years and this was followed by a slight increase until at the end of the period. Great York Way numbers came with a moderate rose in 1999, and then trend was relatively static until the end, while Long Lane trend was an upward and numbers doubled over the period of 4 years.
