You agreed to take a job over the summer, but due to some unexpected problems, you can no longer take the position. Write a letter to the manager. In your letter:
• Apologise for not being able to take the job
• Explain your situation - Covid19- stuck in India - WFH - travel restrictions
• Say that you would be interested in the position next summer
Dear Mr Smith,
I hope you are in the pink of your health during this Covid19 situation. Thank you for accepting my job application. Due to the Covid19 condition, joining this summer will not be possible, and I sincerely apologise for that.
Last month I came to India to my hometown, to avoid taking leaves after joining the prestige position. As the number of positive corona cases is on the surge, the lockdown has been imposed. It is estimated that there will be international travel restrictions for at least six coming months. Since the situations are uncertain globally, the present company privileged us with work from home; until the situation gets better, it is difficult to get back to Canada.
However, if permissible I would like to join the position by next summer, as this jobs involved a lot of travelling; in this pandemic scenario, it is advisable not to travel much to restrict the increase in the number of corona cases.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours sincerely,
Shreyas Parab
