You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to because you have some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer. In your letter:
• explain your situation
• describe your problems
• tell him/her when you think you can start.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to inform you that unfortunately I won't be able to start working in the consensus date due to some issues that happened to me earlier this week, as I supposed to begin my duty on the may 21th, however, my parents came from Syria to see me after a very long time and they will get back home on the same day of my joining date.
In fact my parents are visiting Toronto for the first time and they know nothing here. Therefore, I have to help them during their journey especially in the last couple of days, hence, they might need to go for shopping in order to purchase some souvenirs to their friends and relatives. Thereafter, I will drop them at the airport and wait them until they ride the plane in case they need any assistance as both of them didn't speak english very well.
Thus, I would be extremely grateful if it possible for me to start my duty on the next day, May 22nd to be fully ready for starting my job, and you can also deduct that days from my holiday allowance if you wish.
Finally I hope that my request does not cause you any inconvenience.
Best regards
Bilal.A.Ab
