The given pie chart illustrates the ratio of main reasons for students who make up their mind about a university in the UK from 1987 to 2007.
Clearly, the relevant degree course dominates both years' charts. While the distance to their parents' house was the least concern in 1987, it quickly became the second most critical element of studying at a UK university in 2007.
As can be seen from the pie chart, suitable degree courses have increased slightly from 35 % to 37% over two decades. A consistent decline from 21% to 17% was seen in the quality of resources in 1987.
Similarly, in 1987, the third position was occupied by the good sport and social activities cited as the reason for the biggest increase from 19% to 6%.
Over the course of the study period, the number of students who chose to be closer to their family doubled from 10 to 22%. The number of students who preferred the quality of the teaching increased from 15% to 18% over the period.
