Essay topics:

Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to
their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time
and attention to studying for a qualification.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There are differing views among university students on the importance of diversifying their studies or focusing only on core subjects. Some people believe that exploring other fields of study can broaden their knowledge and skills, while others believe that devoting full time and attention to their qualifications is paramount. This essay will discuss both views before concluding that I strongly support the first view.
On the one hand, those who follow the trend of dedicating all their time and attention to studying a subject to get a degree have good reasons for their stance. They believe that studying a subject allows students to gain in-depth knowledge and expertise in their chosen field. By dedicating effort to core subjects, students are able to grasp complex concepts and theories more thoroughly. This specialized knowledge can lead to advanced research opportunities, specialized career paths, and recognition as experts in their field.
On the other hand, there are compelling reasons why students should take on a variety of additional subjects in addition to their main areas of study. First, exploring diverse fields fosters intellectual curiosity and expands one’s understanding of the world. It promotes critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, which are increasingly appreciated in today’s complex and interconnected society. Additionally, learning about other subjects can provide students with a well-rounded education, equipping them with transferable skills that help them adapt to a rapidly changing job market quickly. At the same time, knowledge from other subjects also helps students in many things in their daily lives, not only in work and study.
In conclusion, while there are those who stress the importance of dedicating time and focusing solely on a single subject to achieve a specific degree, I still strongly believe that college students should expand their knowledge by studying subjects outside their main field of study. By embracing a variety of fields, they can develop broader perspectives, improve critical thinking skills, and absorb other interesting knowledge.
