Such portrayals perpetuate negative stereotypes and can contribute to misunderstanding and under-appreciation of cultural heritage, potentially leading to conflicts.
Moreover, movies and TV shows oversimplify complex historical events and downplay human rights issues. "Gone with the Wind" romanticizes slavery and the Civil War, while minimizing the brutalities of slavery and devastation caused by the war.
