sending humans to mars

Essay topics:

sending humans to mars

The article presents potential challenges on the way of sending humans to Mars. The lecturer claims that all these problems can be successfully overcome, and there are possible solutions for each one of them. Her further demonstrations are as follows.

First, although it would be an impossible burden on the cargo capacity of a spaceship to carry the food, water, and oxyen supply of a crew for that long period of time, this issue could be resolved by the use of hyrdapaunics. Hydrapaunics are plants with their roots growing in water instead of soil. These plants could be employed to produce crops as food, convert waste water absorbed by their roots to clean water vapor, and also gather up carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen like other plants do.

Secondly, while spending too much time in a zero gravity environments can have an enoromous negative on human body, there are preprations and percautions to take in order to minimise this effect. As there have already been successful attempts utilized by astronauts who have spent several months in such environments. For instance, regular exercise can soften the decrease in muscle mass, and taking minerals like calcium may reduce the impact of zero-gravity environment on the bone density.

Finally, whereas it is true that the sun can emit dangerous radiation, it only does so on few ocassions which are when the sun is particularly active, not all the time. Therefore, the application of a radiation detection device and a small low-weight shield would solve this issue. The astonauts can easily perform their daily tasks without being thretened by the radiation, and on the few times that the sensor is indicative of high radiation they can use the small shielded area to protect themselves.
