Shakespeare's literary works
Both the reading and the listening are about the fame of William Shakespeare's literary works. The former argues that the facts regarding the fame of Shakespeare were just rumors and theories, and supports that his creations were written by other people rather than himself. However, the listening contrasts this idea by disagreeing the facts presented in the passage.
To start, the passage mentions a famous scientist, theorist and philosopher Francis Bacon, who supported the ideas reflected in Shakespeare's poems like "Venus and Adonis" and got the legal support as well. In contrast, the the listening refutes this point as mis-understanding of the fact. The lecturer points that the astronomical ideas presented in the Shakespeare's plays do not match with the ideas of Francis Bacon.
Secondly, the reading text put forward the name of C. Marlowe, whose death was faked to escape religious trials and he was believed to be named as William Shakespeare. The listening directly refute this idea. The lecturer condemns that the fact that C. Marlowe as unreligious person has no meaning, as he was not criminal. Furthermore, he mentions that C. Marlowe was died earlier in 1593 and that has nothing to do with W. Shakespeare.
Finally, the author claims that Edward de Vere, an English nobleman and courtier, used the false name William Shakespeare to as he was unable to gain public credits. On the other hand, the lecturer rejects this idea by saying that Edward died before the Shakespeare's display. He further mentions that no one could now how Shakespeare would think.
Thus, the listening directly opposes the three evidences against the Shakespeare's literary works reported in the passage.
