The article argues that Robert E.Peary told the truth about his expedition about North Pole. In my opinion I agree with lecture and the reasons have been explained Peary's claim might be not truth.
First, though the National geographic declared Peary really reached the North Pole, this report is contributing with bias. Because his friend who assisted him financially in this expedition had position in National Geography and certainly this relationship affected on results of report. So in this case we can not rely on National Geography as a significant reference.
Second, the speed theory has some missed points and it is not the strong proof about Peary's claim. Avery's food had been supplied by airplane in contradictory with Peary's trip. This made Avery's sled speedy more than Peary's. The other factor has been neglected in this theory is about weather condition in both trips that they were not the same. Lecture argues that Peary's trip was in an adverse weather condition and how he could be reach in these days to his destination.
finally, shadow measurement for finding the sun's position and hence the geographical location of photo is a scientific experiment. But this requires high quality photos to measure shadows accurately however Peary's photos were vague and unclear to calculate shadows and sun's position.
