The pie charts illustrates the proportion of water used by six areas namely: North America, South America , Europe, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia for industrial, agricultural and domestic use. Overall, it is clear that the highest amount of water is used for agricultural activities in the least industrialized regions, while the least ratio is used for domestic needs.
To begin with, in Africa, South America, Central and South-East Asia more than 70 percent of water goes to the agricultural sector, whereas in North America and Europe this index falls down to 39% and 32% respectively.On the opposite , North America and Europe consume more water for industrial purposes(48% and 53%), whereas industrial activities require only about 10% average in South America, Africa, Central and South-East Asia.
Finally , the highest amount of domestic water usage is in South America around 19%, whereas Asian regions use the lowest ratio, around 7%.
