The professor explains three arguments opposing the points presented in the reading passage about the measures which should be employ in order to control toads' population.
First, the professor argues that building a national fence, which blocks toad form moving to other sites, will not work. She states that toads can easily advance to new locations through river streams; especially if young toads and toad's eggs transfer from restricted areas to new places, these start to reproduce, then population increase tremendously. Thus, this idea has been rejected by the professor.
Second, it is mentioned in the reading passage that toads' population can be controlled by organizing a campaign that asks people to catch or kill them. Because toad and its eggs are easy to find and destroy. However, the professor draws attention to the fact that massive group of volunteers are needed to participate in this campaign. In addition, these unskilled people may kill scarce and prone to extincted species because it is hard to distinguish between some of frog species and toads. Therefore, she repudiates this idea based on aforementioned reasons.
Third and last, the reading passage posits that contribution of a disease-causing virus can have a major negative impact in toads' population. On the contrary, the professor disproves this idea due to the fact that the harmful virus may transfer to toad's native habitats in other continents like South America by researchers or pet lovers such that toads' population would become extincted or devastated in that habitats. Hence, this proposal has been rejected by the professor either.
