the table below give information on consumer spending on different items in five countries in 2002
The table illustrates the percentage of the expenditure of citizens in five different European countries including Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey. General, most of them spend money on major category by Food/beverage/cigar and other classes such as clothing/footwear and Leisure/Education in 2002
It can be seen from first group about Food/drink/tobacco, the percentage of population in Turkey spent on the nutrient and tobacco was the highest in 5 countries, at 32.14% while in Sweden, the percent was just a half compare to Turkey, about 15,77%.There was the similar percentage of Italian and Spanish consumer expenditure by Food, reached 16.36% and 18.80% respectedly.
It is clear from clothing/footwear group that the highest proportion of Italian population consumed, at 9%. The rest countries had the approximately equal percentage. In Sweden, spending money on clothing was solely 5.40%. Respectedly, within 3 countries including Ireland, Spain and Turkey reached the percentage at 6.43%, 6.51% and 6.63%.
Spending on entertainment and education was category that there was the smallest percentage all above countries. Specially, in Spain, the consumer’s expenditure less for this group, under 2%. Others country also had the number was not over 5%.
