A glimpse at the bar chart given compared the disparities of tertiary qualification held by Australian between both genders in 1999.
As seen from the data, it is clear that skilled vocational diploma was mainly held by men, with 90% of male owned such qualification compared to a mere 10% of female. Conversely, comprising two-thirds, female undergraduate diploma holder was doubled that of male (30%). Bachelor’s degree, meanwhile, saw a similar proportion between both genders at about 50%.
When it comes to postgraduate studies, evidently less females studied than males. Percentage of girls having postgraduate diploma was just 30%, which was over two times smaller than that of boys. Lastly, masters degree was held by 40% of females and 60% of men respectively.
To summarise, while a dominated portion of Australian men held skilled vocational diploma, undergraduate diploma was the most prevailed qualification among women in Australia.
