Should teachers have cooperative classrooms or competitive classrooms? Discuss both views and give your own opinion

There are variety of ways of educating children these days. While several people believe that it is essential to create a competitive and aggressive environment in a class, others are of the opinion cooperation among children should be included when it comes to teaching at schools. This following essay will discuss both views before generating a personal statement.

Competing between children in class can be of great values in many ways. First of all, it is evident that this method of teaching pushes the pupils beyond their limit, thus providing the students with an impetus for more engagement. Moreover, by this way, children can themselves enhance several skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving and negotiating skills, which are vitally important for their development in the future. On the other hand, schools can also organize competitions with the aim of looking for outstanding individuals in various subjects to nurture them for competitions on larger scale.

However, the above argument is not an indication of cooperation having no advantage. In fact, teamwork can be also highly beneficial as it helps students to develop communication skill as well as build stronger bonds between them. This results in a boost in the productivity. In particular, it is the learning outcomes of students working in groups that are usually more impressive and qualified than that of some talented individuals.

In conclusion, from my point of view, each mentioned method of learning above has its own merits regarding children education. To produce more desirable learning outcomes, schools have to strike a balance between two methods.
