The line graph illustrates us about the various crime rates in the Newport city centre between 2003 and 2012.
Almost 3400 numbers of incidents were reported in the year 2003. There was seen a rising trend of these incidents around 3700 in 2004 before declining to 1200 in 2008. After that period, the rate increased slightly to nearly 1500 in the year 2009 and plateaued at the same rate with the passage of the following years. Finally, in 2002, it reached slightly less than 1500 incidents.
Furthermore, car theft was the second highest as accounted for approximately 2700 incidents. This rate had fallen in 2006 at around 2000 incidents after that it rose dramatically at slightly more than 2500 incidents in 2010. At last, it reached a peak at about 2800 incidents in the year 2012. In contrast, the robbery rate amounted at 600 incidents far less than burglary or car theft and after some fluctuation throughout the years, it reached almost at a similar rate where it started in 2012.
Overall, burglary made up the highest crime rate, whereas robbery made the lowest crime rate in all the previously mentioned years.
