The line graphs illustrate the amount of money parents spending on their children’s sporting activities every month in average and the number of children taking part in three types of sports in Britain from 2008 to 2014.
Overall, it is apparent that British parents pay more money each year for their children’s participation in sports. In term of the participant numbers, football took the first place for having the highest players, compared to Athletics and swimming.
Parents in Britain spent an average of 20 pounds on their children’s sports in 2008. Over the next 6 years, there was a gradual improvement to just over 30 pounds in the British parents’ payment for their children’s sport activities.
In 2008, football was the most popular sport in Britain with 7.5 million children taking part in, while there were only 2 million children enrolling in swimming and about 1 million players joining Athletics. The number of children playing football remained steady around 8 million players between 2008 and 2014. While the figure for Swimming doubled from 2 million participants, the Athletics player number fluctuated at an increasing pace from 1 million players to 5 million players over the period of 2008-2014.
