The pie charts illustrate the percentage of citizens of all over the world in the two yeas 1990 and 2000.
It is clearly seen that there was an increase in the number of people in the world. In addition, while Asia accounted for the largest proportion of world population, the most significant differences belonged to both Latin America and Africa.
In 1990, there were 1.6 billion residents living and 60% of that was Asian, which marked this area rank first out of all regions. While Europe including Russia followed Asia with the percentage of 25%, the figures for other parts in the world were hovering 4%.
In a subsequent century, Asia and Europe was still the first and second leading area in terms of world population although they experienced decreases, ending up with 54% and 14%, in order. Additionally, there were significant increases in the proportion of people living in Latin America and Africa, which almost tripled those of 1900, to 8% and 10% in 2000, respectively. In the meantime, while 6% of citizens in the world started to settle down in Middle East and North Africa, the figures for North America and others remained unchanged.
