The map shows two potential sites (S1 and S2) for a new supermarket in a town called Garlsdon.
It is noticeable that the main difference between the two sites is that S1 is outside of the town, whereas S2 is in the town center. The sites can also be compared in term of access by roads and railway, and their position relative to three smaller towns.
Look at the first site, S1 is located in the countryside to the northwest of Garlsdon, but it is close to the residential areas of the town. S2 is also close to the housing areas which surrounds the town center.
There are three main roads from Hindon, Bransdon and Cransdon to Garlsdon’s town center, but this is no traffic zone so people cannot access S2 by car. By contrast, S1 can be accessed easily from Hindon at about 12 kilometers, but hardly from Brandsdon and Cransdon. Both supermarket sites are close to the railway which runs through Garlsdon from Cransdon to Hindon.
